Course Description
PUAFER005 Operate as Part of an Emergency Control Organisation
This unit covers the competency required to implement the emergency response specified in the workplace emergency procedures or specified by a person at a higher level in the emergency control organisation. People who undertake this work will be working within the command, control and coordinate structure of the emergency control organisation.
This unit has been developed to cover the broad range of emergencies and workplaces as considered in Australian Standard 3745-2010.
This course runs approximately 4 hours face to face with no pre-course requirement or pre-requisites
PUAFER006 Lead an Emergency Control Organisation
This unit covers the competency required to make decisions about people's safety during a workplace emergency and to give instructions on the priority order for responding to the emergency incident area.
This unit has been developed to cover the broad range of emergencies and workplaces as considered in Australian Standard 3745-2010.
People who undertake this course may act as the primary liaison with emergency services after their arrival. These may include Chief and Deputy Chief Wardens within a workplace environment
This course runs approximately 3 hours face to face with no pre-course requirement.
PUAFER008 - Confine small emergencies in a facility
This unit covers the competency required to confine small workplace emergencies. Small workplace emergencies may include such incidents as a small fire that can be controlled using a nearby fire extinguisher; or a chemical spill that can be controlled using workplace personal protective clothing and equipment, and a small spill kit; or a workplace vehicle accident where there is no significant injury or damage.
This course runs approximately 3 hours face to face with no pre-course requirement or pre-requisites

ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.
Performance tasks
- Undertake pre-emergency planning
- Operate as part of the ECO in a fire emergency
Documentation - The student must complete the following documentation:
- Emergency equipment fault log
- Emergency evacuation incident and debrief form
Theory assessment - A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:
- Physical fitness to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills such as using equipment assigned to assist with implementing the workplace emergency procedures and providing assistance to those in need during an evacuation.
- Sufficient English language, literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the course.
